As 2019 gets off to a running start we in the Chamber have so much to celebrate as it goes from strength to strength. The January breakfast meeting was an absolute experience as we announced record membership numbers and the breakfast attendance itself was 85+. This was on the back of our December Christmas and Awards function.
A big thank you to the very special committee that, as with last year, made it an enjoyable evening to remember. Congratulations to those of you who were nominated for consideration and to those winners of the various categories. We received so much support from our elected representatives both financially and with their presence.
John Sinnamon was acknowledged for his philanthropic work here in the community and overseas. The circumstances were challenging as he was not well and just before Christmas he passed away. We have lost an outstanding member and on your behalf I extend our caring thoughts to Karen and his family.
At the time of writing Townsville is experiencing the power of well intended individuals within its community. Extreme duress, it seems, brings out the best.
John was one of those special people who are able to muster up their strength for the benefit of others. It was in his DNA. He didn’t need any special motivation.
