Helping Our Local Schools: Mentoring Business Students at Ferny Grove State High School

9 September 2019

The Commerce in Schools Initiative has been busy organising guest from our chamber to mentor students at Ferny Grove State High School! Our most recent guests were for year 10 business students who’s project is to develop a business idea and pitch it to a panel later this month.  We were all amazed and excited for many of the business ideas the students had, one chamber member said “If you ever need inspiration for a business, come to one of these mentor sessions!”. We would like to thank all the members who helped Sally Foley-Lewis, Ingrid Moyle, Michelle O’Hara, Vicki Yen, Dianne Frey, Joke Chadwick, Eva Porter and Jannine McFarlane. Thank-you

Some exciting ideas where:

  • Fashion made from seaweed
  • Bamboo paper
  • An app like pinterest that show cases quirky and uncool things
  • Mental health app

What’s next

If you would like to see and hear the students pitch their ideas you are welcome to attend the Ferny Grove State High School Business Innovation Showcase Evening.  It is a free event and will be held on the 18th of September at 6pm – 8:30pm.
