Inaugural Senior’s Lunch

25 October 2021

Last weeks inaugural Seniors lunch went off in great style with over 50 people attending. Representatives from the Chamber, Arana View Club, Brisbane Bunya Lions, Older Women’s Network Qld Mitchelton Branchand Probus clubs, along with many other community groups attended. Brisbane Seniors On Line guru Dick Bennett also attended. As a result of the lunch and our appeal for people to join us in spreading the technology word and our wish to see some isolation for Seniors ended, we have four people who have joined our team.

Our guest speaker Brian Battersby OAM related his experiences of learning technology, firstly from his Pine Rivers Shire & Moreton Bay Regional Council time and then as a senior updating his skills. His message was “Just get out there and learn”.

The theme of the lunch was Technology with Leonard Whittaker conducting a Techno Quiz, asking people to do various technological tasks on the phones or tablets. It was called Techno Bingo and, as one of the spotters, there was a lot of fun watching the people achieve the task. Bingo will never be the same.

Many thanks to the The Hills & Districts Chamber of Commerce for their support of the Senior Committee and to the Arana Leagues Club for a lovely lunch. We all enjoyed it and the company of so many people.
