MOVEMBER: 29 Million reasons to get behind it!
Hills and District Chamber of Commerce member, John Hudson, is growing his mo in November in support of men’s health.
John’s Story
‘My sister recently posted on Facebook that she’d donate to any ‘Movember’ participant who shaved off their Mo. She particularly hates my Dad’s Mo and feels the need to explain what we’re doing to everyone we meet with a mo, lest we all be mistaken for a troupe of seventies manual arts teachers or members of the adult film industry.
There’s no accounting for Taste.
The moustache hasn’t traditionally contributed to longevity (think 1940’s era RAF oversized handlebar) but things have changed.
In 2018 Movember raised 29 million dollars worldwide. The money was distributed across a range of research projects, predominately Prostate and Testicular Cancer and Mental Health. The male attitude of keeping quiet and being stoic about our health simply translates to a premature death.
A snapshot of men’s health shows that 1 in 6 of us will get Prostate Cancer. It’s also a fact that women outlive men by about 6 years. Admittedly some men have simply had enough of taking out the bins and hanging their towel up,
But most are genuinely unwell.😒
Movember
is simply a fun way of doing a good thing, raising awareness and money for men’s health. (and stirring up wives, partners, family etc)’
