Do you have the skills to support your people?

17 October 2023 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Concerned woman in office
  • Do you know how to recognise when one of your employees is struggling with their mental health?
  • Do you know what to say to encourage a struggling employee to access help?
  • Do you know the signs of suicide or what to do if you suspect someone is suicidal?

If you answered “no” to any of these questions, it’s time to consider a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course. In addition to the human cost of poor mental health, this condition is costing your business money and putting people and the business at risk.

The Productivity Commission, in 2020, estimated that poor mental health, in the form of lost productivity, absence and presenteeism, costs Australian workplaces $17B pa. Other impacts on the  workplace include conflict, turnover, errors, potential workplace injury or aggravation, consumption of excessive leader time, poor morale and reputational damage.

A Mental Health First Aid course equips you to identify the signs that someone is struggling and provides you with the competence, confidence and courage to have a wellbeing conversation with them.

Mental illness is treatable yet 50% of people with a common mental illness don’t access help. They are more likely to do so when someone they know suggests it. This is where you can make a difference. Help from you, or another workplace Mental Health First Aider, can expedite people getting the help they need and returning to full health and performance.

Find out more about Mental Health First Aid via our website. Our Blended Online Workplace courses, consisting of 5-7 hours of engaging and interactive eLearning followed by two facilitator led small group video-conferences, are a highly flexible route to becoming a Mental Health First Aider.

Mentally Wellthy is offering a 15% discount to all Chamber members. Upcoming course dates are:  17 and 18 October 2023  │  5 and 6 December 2023

Click on the date to book and enter “Chamber” to access your discount.
